This is one from the book club - I think the author is taking us through the mind of a paranoid schizophrenic. We are inside the narrator’s thoughts and paranoia. What a ride – It’s hard to figure out what is real. At first I was annoyed and couldn’t grasp the story, but by the end of the book I really felt for the character. I can’t imagine what it feels like to think that everyone is trying to trick you, including yourself.A 51-year-old psychiatrist named Leo, believes that his beautiful, much-younger wife, Rema, has been replaced by an exact copy.- a “doppelgänger,” a “simulacrum,” an “impostress,” an “ersatz” spouse.
