At the age of 51, on the brink of suicide, Tolstoy went from the pursuit of fame and money towards religion and the meaning of life. A Confession details his search for God and what is truly important in life. Tolstoy says it is important to ask yourself “What am I doing and Why”, “How can I make my life worth living”. As one gets closer to the end it is usually common to look back and ask “What have I done with my life”, “Is this all there is”. For Tolstoy faith in what Jesus said (not the religion) saved him.
